ステートメント Statement

私は子供の頃より、日常に中で見つけた物事やアイデアを描いてきた。私にとって描くことは、記憶やアイデア、思考を可視化することであり、物事の構造や背景を分析する手段でもある。
私は自分の原風景である東京南部の工業地帯で、日常的に目にするいくつかのものに対して興味を抱いてきた。主に1960年代から1970年代に渡る高度経済成長の影響を受けたこの地域には、住宅街と工場が隣接し、その間には草木の生えた空き地も存在する。
人の手によって幾度となく変化してきた街の傍らで、かねてから通り道で目にしてきたはずのものが、ある日突然スポットライトが当たったかのようにプンクトゥム化することがある。
作品の題材として、日常の中にあるものの中でも特にフォーカスしてきたのが、照明、明かりの灯った窓である。これらは私は幼少期に抱いた、照明器具に対する強い関心に由来する。既に絵を描くことが好きだった私は、照明器具をコレクションするかのように描いてきた。初期の頃はペンや色鉛筆を用いて線で描き、年月が経って黒や暗い色を扱う技術が向上するにつれて『明かりと暗闇』の表現へ繋がった。
明かりは人が介入している場所ならほぼどこでも存在するが、色や明るさ、光の拡散状態、窓の中の見せ方などには地域差があり、それらを通じて環境や文化、習慣的な要素を見出すことができる。また、明かりと暗闇との対比により、窓の中と外とで異なる世界の対峙を意識させられる。
明かりは日常的に目にする何の変哲もないものだが、それらをモチーフとした表現を通し、私の内面だけではなく、社会の動向も捉えることができると考える。

From my childhood I have been drawing and painting objects, events and ideas that I find in my daily life. For me drawing and painting are means of visualization and physical materialization of memories, thoughts and ideas, also a method to analyze structures and backgrounds of objects.
For my creation I discover my curiosities through ordinary objects from my original landscape in the industrial area in Southern Tokyo, then I see the influence by high economical growth between 1960s and 1970s through them. I am especially focusing on lighted windows, interior and exterior lights. It originates from my strong childhood interest in lightings. I have been making artworks of lightings as if I were collecting real ones. In the early days I just drew them with line. As the years go by, I have been improving the use of dark colors and black, and that has been effective for portraying lights and darkness. The lights exist almost everywhere that humans have intervened, while I have realized that there are environmental, cultural and habitual elements through them.
l am trying to capture my internal expression, but also to record circumstances and social movements.
